After multiple party theme changes we finally settled on a Fashion Show party for Joelle's 7th birthday! And I'm so glad we did. The girls rocked the runway, designed some adorable clothes and had a fantastic time!
. . . . . . . . . . .
Joelle picked pink, black and white for our color scheme. We decorated the table with strips of black and white wrapping paper from Hobby Lobby and used "the good china" for plates. I tied a pink ribbon around white linen napkins then slid a little flower through the center. We also found clipart of dress forms that we placed in picture frames along the table. My flower "cake" has been used for 10+ years but it worked great as the centerpiece. I spray painted some really old candelabras black to add height.
The girls brought clothes to walk the runway in or could pick from our "collection". We had a make up table they could use and one of our guests is a makeup expert. She perfected several of the girls' looks.
For the runway I hung pink and white curtains along the deck then covered a table turned sideways with black and white wrapping paper. A long pink runway was made from bulletin board paper. We played music and announced each girl as she walked the runway.
We forgot to practice the final walk with everyone but they did a great job and hammed it up for the crowd.
For another activity the girls designed clothes. I printed a dress form on heavy cardstock then made patterns of clothes that were laminated. Each table had scrapbook paper, glue, gems, ribbon and other elements they could trace patterns or create their own designs. Once they made an outfit they held it up to the dress form for viewing. We talked about how this is called a collection.
